Set in the outstanding landscape of the Cranborne Chase, these beautifully laid out gardens of Lamer Tree were created by General Pitt Rivers in 1880. Recognised by English Heritage as a Garden of National Importance, they were first privately owned gardens to be opened for public enjoyment and attract visitors each year with water gardens, intimate arbours and the peacocks and macaws that you’ll find wandering through colourful shrubs and trees. It also hosts the annual Lamer Tree Festival in the summer and the popular End of the Road festival in September, a quirky music festival know for its laid-back attitude and relaxing atmosphere.
